Characterising binge eating over the course of a feasibility trial among individuals with binge eating disorder and bulimia nervosa

Binge eating disorder and bulimia nervosa are disorders that characterized by recurrent binge episodes. The highly contextualized nature of makes naturalistic research a particularly suitable means understanding the context within which occurs. present study aimed to characterise days with regards frequency probability negative affect, food craving, meal skipping, dietary restriction. In addition, it examine whether combined intervention targets experience ‘loss control’ over can decrease these potential maintenance factors often precede Seventy-eight participants (N = 40) or (n 38), who were randomly allocated food-specific general combining inhibitory control training implementation intentions, completed mood diaries four weeks. Results suggest affect craving elevated on days, but restraint skipping did not days. Moreover, eating, restriction, compensation decreased throughout period, while not. This suggests some interventions may successfully reduce without necessarily decreasing thus pointing different routes targeting providing implications for future interventions.
